Everything you want to know about dental implants, our process, and what to expect — answered clearly and honestly.
About Dental Implants
What exactly is a dental implant? +
A dental implant is a medical-grade titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once it fuses with the bone (a process called osseointegration), a custom crown, denture, or full arch is attached on top. The result looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural tooth.
Why are dental implants better than dentures or bridges? +
Dentures and bridges sit on top of the gum and do nothing to replace the tooth root. This means the underlying jawbone begins to shrink, causing discomfort, poor fit, facial sagging, and a prematurely aged appearance over time. Dental implants replace the root itself — stopping bone loss entirely. Implants also don't slip, don't require adhesives, and can last 20–40+ years vs. 7–10 years for dentures or bridges.
Am I a candidate for dental implants? +
Most healthy adults are candidates for dental implants. The main requirements are sufficient jawbone density and good overall health. Even patients with bone loss may qualify — we offer zygomatic implants (anchored to the cheekbone) for patients who have been told they lack sufficient jaw bone. The best way to find out is a free consultation with Dr. Mahomed, where we'll take a 3D scan and give you a clear answer.
What if I don't have enough bone? +
Patients with insufficient jawbone have two options: (1) a bone graft procedure to rebuild bone before implant placement, or (2) zygomatic implants, which are anchored in the cheekbone rather than the jaw. Dr. Mahomed is one of the few specialists in the area who performs zygomatic implants — meaning patients turned away elsewhere may still qualify here.
How long do dental implants last? +
The titanium post typically lasts a lifetime when properly cared for. Crowns and prosthetics may require replacement at some point, but far less frequently than dentures or bridges (which need replacement every 7–10 years). With regular cleanings and proper oral hygiene, most implant patients enjoy their results for 20–40+ years.
The Procedure
Will the procedure be painful? +
No. We offer sedation for the procedure — you will not feel anything during surgery. Post-operative soreness is normal and manageable with prescription pain medication. Most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the experience is. The majority return to their regular activities within 2–5 days.
What is the Malo Bridge (All-on-4)? +
The Malo Bridge — trademarked by Nobel Biocare and also known as All-on-4 — is a full-arch restoration technique where four strategically angled implants support a complete set of fixed, permanent teeth. The angled placement takes advantage of denser bone at the front of the jaw, usually eliminating the need for bone grafts. It is widely considered the gold standard in full-arch restoration.
How long does the entire process take? +
For most patients: Day 1 is the free consultation and 3D imaging. Surgery takes 1–3 hours. Recovery takes 2–5 days before returning to work. Osseointegration (bone fusion) takes 4–6 months. Final crown or prosthesis placement is the last step.
What is the success rate of dental implants? +
Dental implants have a 95–98% long-term success rate — among the highest of any surgical procedure. At Innate Dental Solutions, we maintain a 99% integration success rate across 2,000+ implants placed. Success is highest in non-smokers with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits.
Pricing & Financing
Why are your prices so much lower than other offices? +
We specialize exclusively in dental implants — we don't offer general dentistry, cleanings, or other services. This means every investment we make — in technology, training, and systems — goes entirely toward implant efficiency and quality. Our high patient volume allows us to operate at significantly lower overhead without compromising on materials, technique, or results.
Are your prices truly all-inclusive? +
Yes. When we quote you a price, it includes everything: consultation, 3D imaging, surgery, sedation, extractions, abutments, and your final crown or prosthesis. We do not add costs after the fact. The price we give you is the price you pay.
What financing options are available? +
We work with Care Credit, Lending Club, and Alpheon Credit. Terms are available up to 120 months (10 years), with payments as low as $100/month for a single implant. Most patients are approved same-day. Approval is subject to credit review. Ask us about your options at your free consultation.
Are dental implants tax deductible? +
Under IRS Topic No. 502, dental implants are generally deductible as a medical expense in the tax year you pay, provided your total medical expenses exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. We recommend speaking with a qualified tax professional to confirm your eligibility. We can provide itemized invoices to support your tax filing.
After Surgery
What can I eat after implant surgery? +
Stick to soft foods for 1–2 weeks: yogurt, smoothies, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, soup, pudding, and soft fish. Avoid anything hard, crunchy, chewy, or spicy. After healing is confirmed, you can gradually return to a normal diet. With a permanent fixed arch or Malo Bridge, you'll eventually be able to eat virtually anything.
How do I care for dental implants? +
Implants are cared for just like natural teeth — brush twice daily, floss (or use a water flosser), and attend bi-annual professional cleanings. There is no special maintenance required. Snap-on dentures should be removed nightly for cleaning. Fixed arches and single crowns stay in and are brushed in place.
What does the 5-year warranty cover? +
Our 5-year warranty covers implant failure due to integration issues — meaning if the implant does not fuse properly with the bone, we will replace it at no additional cost. The warranty requires you to attend your bi-annual professional cleanings and follow proper care protocols. It does not cover damage from trauma or failure to follow post-operative instructions.
